Before reaching the podium of this list, we would like to make a brief detour to mention some notable works that unfortunately did not make it into the main ranking.
Let’s start with ‘The Holdovers‘ by Alexander Payne, a truly interesting film that boasts extraordinary performances and meticulous direction, thus elevating the concept behind the narrative.
Another film worthy of mention is ‘Society of the Snow,’ a high-level production based on a true story. Despite the potential knowledge of the ‘ending,’ the film keeps the viewer glued to the screen, offering an engaging experience and playing with expectations.
Two productions that didn’t make it into the Top 10, mainly because they are TV works and not films as promised by this list, are ‘Beef’ and ‘This World Won’t Make Me Bad.’
‘Beef,’ despite an initial part that may almost annoy due to the artificial plasticity of the characters and the worlds portrayed, stands out for its exceptional second part.
While in ‘This World Won’t Make Me Bad‘ Zerocalcare strikes once again, although it doesn’t reach the same strength as his previous work.
And now, without further ado, it’s time to take a look at the top three films of 2023. Are you ready?
